Maharashtra 29th September 2025 ( TGN ) : Two students from Maharashtra are all set to take their academic dreams abroad, thanks to Niyo’s “Fly with Niyo Student Flight Ticket Scholarship”.
Vivek Tiwari from Mumbai has been awarded a free international flight ticket worth ₹50,000 to pursue an MSc in Data Analytics at the National College of Ireland in Dublin, Ireland. Meanwhile, Mithilesh Jadhav from Junnar, Pune, will use his scholarship to pursue a Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy at TBILISI State Medical University in Tbilisi, Georgia.
The initiative, worth a total of ₹5,00,000, covers international flight tickets for 10 Indian students heading to universities across the UK, Ireland, Germany, South Africa, the USA, and other countries. By easing the cost of their very first journey abroad, Niyo is helping students like Vivek and Mithilesh begin their higher education dreams with confidence.
Niyo, India’s pioneering travel-fintech platform, has already become the trusted companion for over 5 lakh Indian students across 20+ countries. The student segment today accounts for 25% of Niyo’s total customer base, growing significantly faster than the overall study-abroad market. Notably, Tier-II and Tier-III cities now contribute a quarter of all new student applications, reflecting the rising aspirations of young Indians beyond metros.
This year, Niyo reported a 30% surge in adoption of its zero-forex markup cards, with students using them even before departure to pay for university fees, visa charges, and accommodation bookings. On average, each student spends close to USD 5,000 before travelling abroad, making Niyo a crucial partner in their pre-departure journey.
In August 2025, the company further strengthened its student offerings with the launch of its Premium Student Plan, combining financial tools with lifestyle benefits such as complimentary international eSIMs, free ATM withdrawals abroad, and zero convenience fees on flight bookings.
Speaking on the scholarship, Smriti Advani, Vice President, Brand Marketing & PR, Niyo, said: “Over five lakh Indian students already trust Niyo to make their education abroad simpler and more affordable. We believe financial barriers should never hold back a student’s ambitions. With Fly with Niyo, we are removing the very first hurdle of travel and giving students like Vivek and Mithilesh a confident start to their global journey.”
Evolving from India’s first zero-forex markup card provider, Niyo today offers a full suite of travel banking services, including forex cards, forex cash, outward remittances, travel insurance, visa assistance, flight and hotel bookings, and eSIMs. With initiatives like Fly with Niyo, the company continues to strengthen its mission of being the most trusted financial and travel partner for Indian students pursuing global education.
