“Green Shifts for Greener Tomorrows: Do Good, Feel Good – Embrace Green Choices for a Sustainable Future”

CII’s Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) proudly announces Asia’s largest congregation for the green buildings and built environment—Green Building Congress 2025—scheduled from 27 to 29 November 2025 at Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai. 

30 October 2025, Mumbai ( TGN ) : The Confederation of Indian Industry’s Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) announced the launch of the 23rd edition of the Green Building Congress, scheduled to be held from 27–29 November 2025 at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai. As Asia’s premier platform dedicated to green buildings and built environments, the Green Building Congress aims to propel India’s Green and Net Zero Building Movement by facilitating knowledge exchange, showcasing over 1,000 next-generation sustainable technologies, solutions and products, for unlocking new business opportunities in the building sector.

The launch of the 23rd edition of the Green Building Congress was attended by Mr B Thiagarajan, National Chairman, IGBC & Managing Director, BlueStar Ltd; Mr C Shekar Reddy, National Vice Chairman, IGBC & Managing Director, CSR Estates Ltd; Dr Mala Singh, Chairperson, IGBC Mumbai Chapter & Chairperson and Managing Director, PEC Solutions Green Designs Pvt. Ltd; Mr Chitranjan Kaushik, Co-Chairperson, IGBC Mumbai Chapter & Chief Operating Officer, Ecofirst Services Limited; and Mr M Anand, Deputy Executive Director, IGBC.

Launching the IGBC Green Building Congress 2025, Mr. B. Thiagarajan, National Chairman, CII Indian Green Building Council, said, “As IGBC celebrates 25 years of advancing India’s Green Building Movement, the Green Building Congress 2025 embodies our collective resolve to ‘Do Good and Feel Good.’ This year’s theme reminds us that sustainability is not just about policy or technology, it is about people making responsible choices every day. As India stands at the crossroads of rapid urbanization and climate responsibility, we must embrace green shifts that make our cities resilient, our communities healthier, and our economy future ready.”

The Green Building Congress 2025’s theme, “Green Shifts for Greener Tomorrows: Do Good, Feel Good – Embrace Green Choices for a Sustainable Future,” reflects IGBC’s commitment to driving holistic ecological transformation. This year’s event will bring together industry professionals, architects, builders, product manufacturers, engineers, consultants, corporates, policymakers, government representatives, international agencies, and academicians to share best practices, innovations, and actionable solutions in green building and Net Zero pathways.

The 2025 Green Building Congress is especially significant as it marks the beginning of the yearlong celebrations of IGBC’s 25th anniversary, honoring a legacy of pioneering leadership and progress in India’s green building sector. This landmark edition highlights IGBC’s enduring commitment to driving innovation and scaling sustainable practices nationwide, bringing together stakeholders to define the future of green and Net Zero built environments.

A noteworthy aspect of IGBC’s Green Building Congress 2025 will be that it is being organized as a carbon neutral event. This aligns with IGBC’s core ethos of demonstrating sustainability through action by integrating responsible event practices, reducing resource footprints, and offsetting unavoidable emissions. The Green Building Congress will embody IGBC’s broader vision of advancing India’s transition toward a Green, Net Zero, and Carbon Neutral future—making the event itself a living example of the principles it promotes.

IGBC’s annual flagship event will feature a comprehensive three-day international conference running parallel to a 3-days grand-scale Green Expo, open to the public with a free entry pass, highlighting over 1,000 cutting-edge, low-carbon and green building products, solutions, and technologies from India and abroad. The event’s multifaceted agenda is designed to:

Foster high-impact knowledge-sharing on climate action, decarbonization, environmental, social and governance (ESG) frameworks, and Net Zero transitions.

Create new business opportunities and dynamic B2B platforms for green building and construction stakeholders.

Inspire the public, including students and youth, to champion the sustainability movement via interactive workshops, competitions, and innovation showcases.

Recognize exemplary leadership and innovation through the IGBC Leadership Awards, Green Design Competition, Performance Challenge Awards, and IGBC Green Your School Programme.

Speaking to the media, Mr. C Shekar Reddy, National Vice-Chairman, CII Indian Green Building Council, said, “From a single green building in 2001 to over 14 billion square feet of registered green footprint today, India’s progress has been extraordinary. The Green Building Congress 2025 in Mumbai will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators to drive this momentum further. The Green Building Congress serves as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, showcasing low-carbon technologies, business opportunity creation, and fostering collaborations for a Net Zero future. Attendees will engage with thought leaders, experience the latest green products and solutions, and explore pathways for decarbonization, health, resilience, and next-generation energy systems. Key event highlights include dedicated sessions on AI & IoT in buildings, green financing, carbon-neutral cities, Net Zero homes, women’s leadership in sustainability, and case studies spotlighting the latest in green built environments.

Dr. Mala Singh, Chairperson, IGBC Mumbai Chapter focused on how Mumbai and Maharashtra are at the forefront of the Green Building movement in India. Speaking at the conference, she said, “Mumbai has always been the heartbeat of India’s built environment transformation — a city where ambition meets innovation. As Chairperson of the IGBC Mumbai Chapter, I am proud that Maharashtra continues to lead the way with one of the highest numbers of IGBC-rated green projects in the country. Through our collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra and the building industry, we are driving the shift toward resilient, low-carbon, and people-centric infrastructure. Green buildings are not just a choice—they are essential to safeguard Mumbai’s future, enhance livability, and ensure the city’s sustainable growth.”

The Green Building Congress 2025 aims to re-enforce IGBC’s ongoing mission to facilitate India’s emergence as a global leader in green buildings and built environments. The Council has developed thirty-two certification systems and works closely with government bodies, international agencies, and industry stakeholders to achieve actionable, future-oriented sustainability targets.
