Girgaon Ganeshotsav: First-Ever Unified Celebration of 86 Mandals with Historic “Asthavinayak Wari” Concep
Girgaon, Mumbai – 2025 ( TGN ):
In a landmark moment for Maharashtra’s Ganesh Utsav history, 86 Ganesh Mandals of Girgaon have united under a single banner—“Girgaon Ganeshotsav”—to celebrate this year’s festival with unmatched grandeur, devotion, and cultural authenticity.
The newly appointed Trustees and Committee members of Girgaon Ganeshotsav have announced that this year’s celebrations will be conducted in a traditional manner, with the core mission of promoting Sanatan Dharma, tradition, and culture.
The “Asthavinayak Wari” – A Cultural First for Girgaon
For the first time, eight Mandals will be transformed into exact replicas of the revered Asthavinayak Temples of Maharashtra. This concept aims to bring the sacred pilgrimage experience to the heart of Girgaon, allowing devotees—including those from Gujarati, Marwadi, Bihari, and other communities—to learn about and connect with the spiritual and historical significance of the Asthavinayak.
Renowned Art Director Mr. Sumeet Patil has been entrusted with creating these authentic replicas. He personally surveyed each temple to ensure accuracy and cultural integrity in the designs.
President Mr. Ganesh Lingayat and Mr. Sharad Kamath personally visited all eight Asthavinayak temples, meeting with their trustees to present the concept. The temple trustees expressed full support and were specially invited to witness the “Asthavinayak Wari” during the festival to boost morale and inspire the devotees and organizers.
Empowering Women through the Utsav
In collaboration with Sushirmala Foundation, Girgaon Ganeshotsav has launched an initiative focused on Women Empowerment and Employment. A registration camp attracted over 1,000 women, many of whom will receive training to assist in crowd management during the festival.
Introducing Traditional Pooja Seva System
For the first time in Girgaon’s history, a Pooja Seva system will be introduced. Devotees can book various sevas, with all rituals performed by appointed Pujaris. Complete pooja samagri will be arranged within the pandals, ensuring that devotees need only arrive for darshan. Special prasad will be distributed after each pooja.
Technology for Tradition – Partnership with 3ioNetra
Special thanks were extended to Team 3ioNetra, specialists in providing technological solutions to temples and trusts across India. Their e-commerce platform will list all “Asthavinayak Wari” sevas, enabling devotees across the globe to participate. Those unable to attend in person will have access to E-Darshan and Prasad delivery directly to their homes.
Anticipating Record-Breaking Attendance
President Mr. Ganesh Lingayat stated:
“The ‘Asthavinayak Wari’ concept has gone viral even before the festival has begun. We expect over 2 crore devotees to visit. We have made special security arrangements to ensure a smooth, safe, and spiritually enriching experience for everyone.”
